Local Supply Electrical Equipment

The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) through the Ministry of Mines and Energy has set the rural electrification development targets as follows:
(i)- by the year 2020, all the villages of the Kingdom of Cambodia will have electricity of some type; and
(ii)-by the year 2030, at least 70 % of households will have access to grid-quality electricity.
EDC through its REF department is here to help (i) – to facilitate the poor households in rural areas to have access to electricity for their houses from grid supply by providing interest free loan to be repaid in installments, (ii) – to facilitate the remote rural household, which is not likely to have access to the electricity network for a long period, to have access to electricity through Solar Home System, (iii) – to facilitate the private electricity supplier in rural areas to access fund for investment on expansion of electricity supply network in order to allow all rural households in its license areas to have access to electricity for use, (iv) – to facilitate the poor households in rural areas to have access to electricity with low price under the Framework of Strategic Planning for Reduction the Rate and Gap of the tariff for Sale of the Electricity in the Kingdom of Cambodia for the year 2015 to 2020 in Provinces and Cities, and (v) – to provide electricity for pumping for agricultural irrigation uses.
This is a big step of the RGC through EDC in Transferring the Benefits Resulting from the Development of Electricity to the Population in Rural Area in order to accelerate the development of electricity in rural areas so that more poor people in the rural areas can access electricity for lighting, commercial use, handicraft and other purposes for improving their standard of living and for the general interest of the society.
Electricity is everywhere.
- Officials from the Rural Electricity Fund Department inspected remote areas to assess the needs of electricity systems and infrastructure for expanding electricity access to rural communities. Visiting this site is part of the commitment to continue to bring sustainable and reliable electricity supply to areas that do not yet use electricity to improve local development.
